The OregonWorks Initiative is a project of the Software Association of Oregon in cooperation with committed industry sponsors and the Oregon Economic Community Development Department.

There are three main goals of this Initiative:

1.To expand the state's base of high-tech professionals by helping member companies attract and recruit high-tech talent throughout the nation and abroad.

2. To develop and grow local talent thru the OregonWorks Intern Program, matching technical and non-technical students and teacher-interns with Oregon high-tech and Creative Services companies.

3. To forge closer ties with higher education institutions in Oregon to better prepare and continually educate the workforce to meet current and future industry needs.

The cornerstone of the OregonWorks initiative is a dynamic, informative Web site www.oregonworks.org designed for people considering relocating to Oregon to live and work.

The OregonWorks Job Center is an online brokering service that allows companies to post job openings and allows qualified candidates to confidentially post resumes. The system automatically matches jobs postings by companies with individuals seeking employment. SAO members and sponsors enjoy reduced rates for job postings, the resume postings are free.

The OregonWorks Intern Program provides a single centralized resource to find both technical and non-technical students and teacher-interns to fill positions available in Oregon software companies. In partnership with The Business Education Compact, (BEC) we provide a menu of services including an online brokering service that matches company internship openings with qualified interns and allows intern coordinators at various educational institutions to be notified of openings as well. We also provide customized training on how to develop successful internship programs in small, medium and large companies.
